January 2015

January 2015

While Meg was here we went over into Canada to Grand Falls. It was starting to freeze over at this point. I saw it about a month later and it was completely frozen.

It was pretty darn cold.
While Meg was here, we had Maine lobster for the first time. The store we bought it from only had the bigger sized lobster. It was a bit tough. We've heard the smaller ones are more tender, so we'll have to try some of those next time.
Poutine. It's a French Canadian dish consisting of fries covered in gravy and cheese curds. We've only had it twice, and apparently we haven't had the right kind yet. But another dish to try in Northern Maine.
It takes a pretty nice dad to wear these earrings the girls made him.
When you live in northern Maine, people will have things like this in their house so they don't go crazy in the winter. ;)
One of the best things I've ever seen - Annabelle on nitrous. She said the buzzing from the drill sounded like Olaf singing "In Summer." So she was humming it and laughing the whole time. Prior to the nitrous, she would hardly even open her mouth.
Too cool.
The river in our town freezes in the winter.
And have you ever seen a potato this big!? I sure hadn't. She took it for Show and Tell that week.
Another storm.
I got these great views while skiing after the storm.
The tree house covered in snow.
We saw this couch at K-Mart. They need to step up that game.
This girlie started Primary at church this year.
Just driving by the Amish houses. My Favorite!
No electricity. Wood Stoves. And they would still hang their clothes out of the line sometimes even in Winter.
There's a place called Mars Hill where you can downhill ski. But they've lined the nice little hill with some not so great looking windmill, AND apparently all the energy from the windmills goes to Canada! How is that even happening!?
View from the top of the mountain.
I had my first time at the snow blower.

For New Year's last year, we took some balloons filled with confetti to our next door neighbors house. And popped them at "midnight" and it was a mess! But here's our tribute to last year! It wasn't quite as messy.

We rented some cross country skis for everyone except Vivian. The girls only tried a couple times. It was just hard to get them to go outside when the high was -5 F!

Mike had a dental conference at the end of January in Boston and we tagged along. I had never been to Boston before.

We went to the New England Aquarium. The girls got to pet some stingrays.
The bones of a whale.
Horseshoe Crab
The next day we went to the Boston Children's Museum.

They could have spent days at that museum.

Done with January.
